My work of art

Training and experience matter! Dr. Chapman has completed a one year fellowship in robotic surgery and has participated in over 500 daVinci prostatectomy procedures for prostate cancer. Research clearly shows that training and experience make an enormous difference in outcomes. Your surgeon may not tell you how little training or experience he or she has unless you ask!

Experience Matters in daVinci Robotic Prostatectomy!
Over 500 and counting!
I do not advertise on TV or billboards!
Dr. Chapman has completed over 500 daVinci robotic prostatectomy procedures in Columbia, SC since completing his one year fellowship training in robotic surgery and is the Chair of the Palmetto Health Urology Multidisciplinary Cancer  Conference. When it comes to billboard or TV ads let the buyer beware! I prefer to let my training, experience, results and reputation do the talking. It is critically important to be aware of the training and expertise of your surgeon. Be certain to ask specifically about your surgeon's training and results. In addition to speaking with patients, the nursing director of Surgical Oncology at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital (803.434.3380) can provide valuable insight with respect to the patient experience and individual surgeon outcomes.
Dr. Terence N. Chapman is Board Certified in Urology and has completed a one-year fellowship in Urologic Oncology and robotic surgery at the renowned Roswell Park Cancer Institute, one of the National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the United States.

Dr. Chapman chairs the Palmetto Health Multidisciplinary Urology Cancer Conference where all new cases of prostate cancer are reviewed by a panel of physicians including surgeons, oncologists, radiation therapists and pathologists.

His fellowship, completed in 2007, encompassed the latest surgical techniques in minimally invasive surgery and state-of-the-art cancer management, including extensive use of Active Surveillance where many men can defer treatment for low risk cancers.

He has been elected as a member of the prestigious Society of Urologic Oncology, an exclusive organization of urologists recognized for their training and expertise in the management of genitourinary cancers.

He specializes in the diagnosis and management of urologic cancers and has special expertise in robot-assisted daVinci prostatectomy, cystectomy (bladder removal) and partial nephrectomy (kidney). He also has expertise in true laparoscopic nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy as well as cryotherapy of renal masses.

An important aspect of cancer management is a personalized approach to each case. One size does not fit all, and many options exist for the treatment of prostate cancer, and in many cases, active surveillance is an option.
